Valentine Vocab: The Love Alphabet

Valentine’s Day is close, and I have a feeling that my foster dogs know this; they have been looking especially cute lately. This soon-to-be day of love has got me thinking about everyone that takes the time to help out animals. I know a few other people that foster, and they all have exceptionally large hearts. The dogs that are rescued, however, seem to be bursting with love. The fact that they get a second chance at life is more than tail-wags and kisses can express.

For those of you that have considered fostering, but have not yet tied the knot, hopefully this will be that encouraging push you need. For those of you that don’t understand the concept of fostering, I will teach you letter by letter. After all, if you want to solve something, it would make sense to break it down, right?

F – is for FRIENDSHIP. The four-legged creatures that come in and out of my house are, no doubt, my best friends (not to mention every night is like a snuggle slumber party). It is a known fact that you will bond with your foster, hands down, so it is pointless trying to prevent it.

O – is for OTHERWORDLY. I’m sure I speak for a lot of people when I say that dogs are out of this world. Each and every foster that has been through here has been extraordinary.

S –  is for SMITTEN. Do I really have to explain this one? Even as I write this, Duncan is asleep on my arm, so trusting. It’s the little looks, the corky expressions that really get you. It’s difficult not to think “How did I end up with you?” Clearly, it was an act of some higher power.

T – is for TENDERNESS. They need sympathy, they need love. And if you are not sure how to go about that, don’t worry. They’ll teach you…

E – is for EVERLASTING. You will always love your foster dogs. Yeah, there are going to be some times when they are annoying, but you will always feel unconditional affections for them. Whether they are in your home, or in their’ permanent family’s you will love them yesterday, today, tomorrow, and forever.

R – is for RESCUED. Whether it is with you or their permanent family, they are rescued. Can you imagine what their life would have been? You helped save them. And trust me, they know.

Mariah, I have enjoyed every single one of your blogs, especially the ones “written” by Duncan. This one though has touched me like no other. We are so thankful that you foster for Last Hope Rescue and we love you!

    • Aw, I’m literally smiling ear to ear. I’m so happy that people are actually enjoying this, I feel like I am blabbing! I love you all too, and hopefully I can contribute to the rescues and shelters just as much as you guys!

  2. SO PERFECT! Convincing you to foster, and then start are blog, are truly two of the very best things I have ever done. Bravo my friend!

  3. You are an inspiration yet again!

The photos are absolutely beautiful and deserve to be framed and hung. Love the definition of
